Join us in support of
Communities of Hope
The causes of poverty involve issues related to economics and education coupled with
abuses in governance and lack of opportunity.  The Association of African American
Single Mothers (AAASM) seeks funding to develop a set of best practices in creation of
the
Communities of Hope Program.  Communities of Hope is a community economic
development Program that provides an adaptable, innovative approach to the reduction
of poverty in low and moderate-income communities.  It is our goal to see Communities
of Hope as the Nations leading exemplary practices program in the elimination of
poverty across America.

We focus on eliminating the causes and effects of poverty in the twenty states
experiencing the highest levels of poverty.  Community partnerships with residents,
business, and Government offices on State and Federal levels are vital in the success
of the program.  The program will mandate that residents of each community be given
an opportunity to play a part in the development of their community program.  Various
committees will work in concert to determine which factors of poverty are having the
greatest effect on each community.  That information will be used to create and then
disseminate strategies for community economic development that work best for each
community and its unique set of circumstances.  Access to program research,
strategies, partners and results will be made available for distribution on a national level.
