Parenting
for
single parents
discipline
Issues of parenting are emotional ones specially for mothers.  We
trade discipline for compassion and in time that makes for
emotionally unstable children.  By teaching proper discipline
techniques, you teach your children self-control, respect for
authority and empathy.  For a single mother, properly disciplined
children just makes for an easier life as a single parent.

The disciplining of a child requires that there is a true connection
between the child and the adult.  There should be an attachment
developed from birth.  Disciple should be respectful for the parent
and the child.  The child should never feel belittled or shamed after
being disciplined.  Disciple is not a power play between the child
and parent.
A good parent can listen and understand a child's
point of view while standing on principles.

Communication is vital and becomes more important as children
get older.  The family should communicate together and hold family
meetings.  The parent should set guidelines at those meetings with
well established and communicated consequences for bad behavior
and reward for good.

Good discipline does change as the child gets older and matures
and over time should become easier.
